Dr. Marlin Schul was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and grew up in Northeast Indiana before attending Indiana University to study Nuclear Medicine and Chemistry. Dr. Schul enrolled in the Indiana University School of Medicine and graduated in 1992. He is boarded by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (EM) and the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine. He transitioned from EM to the vein world by joining and training with the largest group of physicians specializing in nonsurgical management of venous disorders. Dr. Schul opened his own center in Lafayette, Indiana and provided care to patients with venous leg ulcers, blood clots, and the array of venous disorders affecting 20-30% of the population for over 20 years. His practice mission was focused on the patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Dr. Schul’s contributions to the field of venous and lymphatic medicine have led to dozens of peer reviewed manuscripts and recognition as a Fellow of the American Vein & Lymphatic Society, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Venous Forum. The thing that brings Dr. Schul the most joy is hearing from patients how his or his team’s care has changed their lives. Whether resolving pain and swelling or walking a patient through a blood clot/lymphatic disorder, just knowing he is making a difference for those he is fortunate to help makes every day satisfying.
Joining Dr. Shuler’s team, Dr. Schul brings the experience and focus on the patient that fits the mission of making a difference for all we are blessed to treat. He has been married to wife Susie since 1991 and has three grown daughters. When not working, you’ll find doc fishing, golfing, or chasing some adventure with his wife.
