Jaimie Shurden is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who began her nursing career at age 19, earning her first nursing degree, an Associate's Degree with honors, from Oklahoma State University. She continued her education at Rogers State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). She then worked in Tulsa, Oklahoma, gaining clinical experience in emergency medicine, cardiac care, and intensive care for six years.
Dr. Shurden started her Naval career at age 25 as a direct-commissioned officer. Her duty stations included Portsmouth Naval Medical Center as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse, the CVN 78 USS Gerald R. Ford as the Ship’s Nurse, and Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, where she served as an ICU nurse, clinical educator, and house supervisor. Over her eight years of Naval service, Dr. Shurden deployed three times: first to Guantanamo Bay for detainee operations; second to Europe as a member of the medevac/casevac team attached to a Marine task force; and finally to Niger as part of a surgical team supporting special operations in the region. Dr. Shurden resigned her commission in 2020 with the rank of Lieutenant, having received multiple awards, including four Navy Achievement Medals, a Navy Commendation Medal, and a Meritorious Service Medal.
Since leaving the Navy, Dr. Shurden has worked as a TeleICU nurse for the Inova Health System in Northern Virginia and as a clinical educator with ZOLL Medical. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Baylor University in May 2024. She is certified through AANP as a Family Nurse Practitioner and licensed in Florida, Virginia, and Texas. She recently relocated to Panama City with her beagle mix, Lylah, and her significant other, who is stationed at Tyndall AFB. Dr. Shurden looks forward to serving the Panama City community at Vascular Associates.
